Where to Catch 40 Winks on Roadtrip?

Thinking back----
In '75 I was headed through Ohio on my new '75 Electra-Glide in the early afternoon and a rainstorm was quickly approaching.
I decided to use some common sense (and not ride through the rainstorm) so I pulled off the highway and onto the right hand shoulder under an overpass.
As the rain started I could tell that it was not going to end quickly so I climbed across the guard rail and laid down (with jacket and helmet) on the steep inclined area of the overpass.
I was rudely awakened by two Deputy Sheriffs that just wanted to make sure that I was OK and not dead!
My problem (at that time) was that I had something in my saddlebags that, while not really illegal, I would have probably had to answer a lot of questions if they had asked to search my bike (as was common back in those days).
From that experience I will suggest this: If you're planning on sleeping in a roadside park, in a rest area, or under a bridge.....be sure that you are "legit" because you will get attention, and sometimes that ain't a good thing!

Isn't a rest area for getting some rest? Big difference between camping and taking a nap for a few hours right? I would grab a picnic table and have at it day or night if I needed a nap to keep going. The truck stop is the next best place if I couldn't find a rest area. Bad weather is a different story! Then I would pick the truck stop and hang out till safe to move on. As long as you can pay for something you aren't loitering right? Lol have fun with it and be safe

Good one I have spent time waiting for friends to get off work at the dealership and was more than welcome by the staff. Could have taken a quick nap in the chair if I didn't snore so loud lol
