Get yourself a 44 oz bottle of Colt 45 malt liquor and find a picnic table at the local park, you'll fit right in and nobody will mess with you

Lots of sick people in that ER. I tent camp but on a long trip I'll get a hotel for the 1st night if it gets late.

This is a really good topic. I tend to get drowsy on trips in my cage, and can pull over nearly anywhere for 40 winks. But, not the same on a bike.

In addition to the good suggestions in this thread, how about?:
- bring a small blanket. Pull into a fast food place, put the blanket beside the bike, and get 40 winks leaning against the bike. With the blanket it looks premeditated...and hopefully people won't think you had a stroke.

- outside tables at a fast food restaurant. But something to eat or drink, and put it. On the table. Lay your head down, like in high school history class, and take a nap.

Loves, pilot, flying j, TA and petro. Will be your best bet for a place to get a good nap and a shower. Also petro and ta usually have decent restaurants. Showers are only free with a 50 gallon fuel purchase. Other than that 10 to 12 bucks well worth it.

If you're tired enough a power nap can be anywhere.

Can't count how many times I have found a little municipal park and gone to sleep on top of a concrete picnic table. Use my jacket as a pillow. Would only do it in the daytime and never at night. My wife was sort of embarrassed when I went to sleep on a bench visiting Plymouth Rock on Cape Cod one day. Hey, I was tired and there was this bench and I got my power nap. Wife said that people were walking by and a few commented on this sleeping bearded guy. I never heard the comments<grin>.

It would be a good one day ride from your hometown down to Nashville and then another easy one day ride to Vicksburg.
Have fun and stay safe.
Yes, besides getting to Vicksburg, the other big draw for me on this trip is riding the Natchez Trace. Possibly the Blue Ridge Parkway but haven't quite decided if I'll loop that far East. Thanks.

Countries full of nice little parks or dirt roads for that matter, I've knocked a few zz's anywhere the bugs or the local barney didn't pull a gang bang on me.
