Default Lowering a new Street Glide?

I'm looking at possibly selling my Softail Slim and purchasing a Road Glide. I'm 5'1", so height is a concern. Looking at doing the Progressive Suspension monotube fork cartridge kit for the front and the Progressive Suspension 944 FST low shocks plus a lowering block for the rear. It will bring the rear down 2" and the front down 1". Has anyone done this or something similar? Pros/cons? What are the best low profile seats out there for a RG?

Are you talking about lowering a Roadglide or a Streetglide?

the X touring bikes have 12" rear shocks already...( FLTRX. FLHX- the others are 13 in the rear)

you can go lower, but scraping and reduced lean angle become a concern, nothing like the top of the fender whacking the triple tree on a pothole

and comfort is compromised.

the 83+ FLT touring frame is kinda big and bulky.

If it doesn;t "fit" it'll be a constant struggle- It can be done- narrowed and lowered seats thick boot soles can come into play-

if you check youtube you'll see some smaller people just throwing touring bikes around- maybe watching those you can see what they have done- motorman palladinos videos

Perhaps look into a dyna series too

Mike

I'm sorry to inform you that Harley has a minimum height requirement to purchase a SG or RG and you don't measure up.

Have your seat narrowed and lowered by Mean City Cycles, that will handle your height issues without breaking the bank.....

+1 or jacking around with an already limited suspension.

Mod the seat. Easy button.

I'm barely better than 5'5" and I have a reach seat on mine that's been worked. I can get my feet on the ground flat footed but there's no extra give. My inseam is 29". I don't know how we compare but you might have a hard time with an SG, I feel like I'm at the minimum height to handle one.

Lowering your glide...DON'T DO IT
Suspension is already lowered
However
Do a FBI seat frame lowering mod they offer
Best way to go...

Doesn't matter what you do, if you are 5'1", it isn't going to work out. I'd stay with the Slim...

I don't think you can use the lowering blocks with the progressive shocks.
