I'd let the owner of the bike get as many low ball offers from non-friends first. Then swoop in and give him 500 more than the highest offer, cause... you're a friend.

That would be around 5500 after all said and done.

Maybe it has $1000 in unmarked bills in the bags?

Add ons are not worth a plug nickel in an appraisal of a used Harley except to the seller. Gotta have it now? Write the check. Worried about the price? Keep looking until you find a bike priced to the market average.

if it has a carb 7500 would be a buy. But if it's a MM injection bike, I'd pass and look for a 02 and up Delfi injected bike. You can probably find 2006 for a couple grand more.
Lots of used bikes around for sale

My friend bought the bike this morning. We found out the the local Harley dealer has done all service since day one. All service records are available and the owner has been meticulous taking care of it since he purchased it new. Yes the bike is priced a little higher than most would want to pay but my friend was OK with it based on condition, miles, equipment and service records. I think it will make him a nice bike, at age 62 he plans on keeping it for the rest of his riding days.

Good for him...hopefully it'll put a smile on him and enjoying getting to ride on something he wanted.

This all that matters. Your friend is happy with the value of new bike. Nice.

Purchased a car years ago and asked my friend if he thought I got a good deal. He asked me if I was happy with my purchase and I said yes. He replied then yes you got a good deal. Congrats to your friend.

It is worth what someone with the cash is willing to pay. Not a dime more . Price is set by a willing buyer.

I wish HD understood that. I want a new RGU and I got like 2 dollars and seventy five cents I'm willing to give for it... Somehow they think it's worth more. Those fools...
