Default C&C's Mercedes leather vs standard leather?

Does anyone have any experience between the two types of leather that C&C seats sells?
Are they the same leather but texturized differently or is one more durable than the other?

you could ask them for details- even ask them to send you a sample

a "top grain" leather is the outside surface of the skin. this may show scarring from wire fences or bug bites

skin is often split into layers- the top grain or outside is most desirable

the inner layers or "splits" are often given a machine made texture to look like top grain

I just went through this rigamaroll sofa shopping...there are all kinds of "made-up" names that don't mean anything, but top grain is always top grain

Here's my seat with the Mercedes (textured) with the plain band (smoother). Same leather, but the Mercedes is the name of the texturing applied.
