Default Correct ohm speakers

I had posted on another thread about my mp3 that hd sells having a skipping condition after about 30 minutes of use. Someone mentioned that speakers that have the wrong ohms resistance could cause this but it was said that if my speakers are 4 ohms and I replace with 8 issues could cause amp problems. My oem hd speakers were 8 ohms but the hogtunes are 5.75. could this be an issue? thanks to anyone that can shed some light. Mike

Full draw Mike ,,,,,

1998-2005 Harley audio systems require 8-ohm speakers (((you can get away with as low as 7-ohms ))) ,,,, any lower than that and the amplifiers will get hot and eventually fail ,,,,,,

2006-2008 Harley audio systems allow you to use speakers with an impedance as low as 2-ohms ,,,, but you can use 4, 6 or 8-ohm speakers on the 2006 and later systems without risking damage to the amplifiers ,,,,, they will just not be as loud as the 2-ohm versions ,,,,

none of these conditions can cause your MP3 player to skip ,,,, that is another issue all together ,,,,,

JMJOHN,

What's up with the "Awaiting Approval". If ya got an answer speak up my man.

Fulldrawmike,

I have never heard of the ohms rating on a set of speaker causing problems with mp3 player, CD players or any other source for that matter. If anything the ohms rating is going to affect the amplifier.

If you have a deck that is rated for best performance at 4 ohms, then that's what you should use. If you were to use 2 ohm speakers on a 4 ohm rated amplifier then the amp will run harder and hotter. It will normally draw more power from the amp but for some that can be a bad thing.

minime ,,,,,

awaiting approval ?? ,,,,,, I don't know for sure ,,, you need to ask the moderator of this forum ,,,,,, I think I fell off their "A" list ,,,

seems the J&M vs Hog tunes thread last week stirred up a little more controversy than they wanted to see ,,,,,,

maybe it will all blow over in a few days ,,, who knows ,,,,,

I sent JMJohn a PM on audio and he didn't even respond. He's going to miss a sale being childish.
Maybe I jumped to a conclusion and the mods are holding him back.....Sorry John.

His posts are being reviewed. I have read some of what is going on and I am not sure how I feel about it. But I would say that the speakers will not effect the mp3 player.. That is totally seperate from the amp. The amp is what drives the speakers.

Manish Hawg ,,,,,,

sometimes I am mentally challenged too ,,,, I saw some PM posted for me ,,,, I wasn;t really sure how they got there ,,,,, seemed to be a service of this site or something ,,,,,,, but I could not figure out how to answer them ,,,,,,

anyway ,,, I answer well over 300 e-mails per day from customers all over the world from my regular e-mail addresses, so I really prefer people just use my regular e-mail address which is john@jmcorp.com ,,,,, that way I am sure to get them all ,,,,,,,

sorry again for my confusion ,,,,,
