Default Help!! V&H header flange pulled off

Hi I have a 09 street glide I'm in the process of installing Vance & Hines big shot duals. I did buy these used they are for an 09 Harley touring bike. When I was tightening the rear head pipe the what seems to be pressed on flange on the head pipe just pulled off leaving the Oem snap ring and original header flange bolted on and the v&h head pipe dangling there. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks

It's not pressed on, it's held on with the snap ring.. I don't see how u can have the flange from the pipes and the stock flange on at the same time.. Try getting a new ring, maybe it's old and wore out and allowing the flange to slide off the head pipe

I'll have to get some pics, there is a piece that goes against the head like a lip on the end of the pipe. The snap ring and Oem flange off my original exhaust pushes against that which holds it against the head without this "lip" on the end the snap ring and flange slide right off the end of the pipe since there is no lip for it to push against. Where the Oem stock head pipe is tapered also with a lip so the flange and snap ring will not slide off it. Unlike the v&h head pipe.

Looks like it's time to go and find a welder to fix your problem.

That's what I was kind of thinking was just more so curious before I went ahead and welded it on. I just thought it was odd it just popped apart also by welding it the flange might not fit as good was my other worry.

Thanks

Has anyone else experienced this and just welded it on? Just worried about the flange fit if there is weld there?

the rings which put a nice rounded edge on the pipe on my true duals from freedom performance are welded on in a few spots. I remember thinking... that is kind of chintz.

Ohhh damn.. Soo the flange/lip that supposed to be fixed to the head pipe came off.. I've never seen it heard if that happening... Maybe you or the person before you torqued the pipes down way too much and caused it to come off. Either way it looks like a pretty simple fix with a welder
