OP: If I were you, I'd now silence ALL these little voices in your head, and pick up the phone and call both Scott at Hillside, and Jaime at Fuel Moto. Explain that you're on a budget and looking for the biggest bang out of your buck. Talk to them both, and then make your decision. They're both good.

Scott has already chimed in, and I suspect that you'll feel even better after talking with him on the phone.

Thanks for all the input/insight...... a lot to digest ....

Sounds like heads and a cam can get me where I want to go, time to make a few phone calls...

Thanks again....

I did the TW-555 Cam, and FM Level B Heads on my 103 this past winter due to excessive carbon build up on heads/pistons at 11,000 miles. Figured since I had to tear it down to clear out the carbon I might as well rebuild the top end.

I'm really happy with the results so far and wouldn't do a 107 until the cylinder wear is enough to warrant it.

The carbon build up was caused by the HD Stage 1 AC sucking in the crankcase oil. So along with the head work I also did the breather bypass, installed the Rocker Lockers, and replaced piston/rings since the cost was reasonable versus grinding carbon. Honed the cylinders and have zero oil usage and zero getting in the intake.

I recently installed Wards Fan to eliminate high head temps in stop/go traffic. Works great so far.

I plan on using the TW-555 cams.
I can afford one of the following at the same time:
Level "B" CNC heads
107 big bore kit

It would be easiest financially to do the heads/cams this year, and then next year do the big bore kit.... but I can pull it off either way...

My question... which combo will I feel the biggest change, when done together-- Cams & heads or Cams & 107 kit...???

I actually had a friend say that with my 103, cams & headwork, I may not want to go 107.... not sure I buy that..

Thanks in advance for your insight/experience...
Two Questions
1.What Exhaust System are you Running?
2.What are you using for a Tuner?
3.What RPM Range do you Spend Most of Your Time?
4.Are you looking for Low-Mid or Mid-High Power?

That's four questions, but who's counting....

1. I have a Fuelmoto Jackpot 2/1/2 head pipe with SE slip-on mufflers
2. I have a PowerVision and the Auto tune 110 pro
3. I ride mostly 2-up cruising (2500-4000rpm), but enjoy the upper rpm range from time to time when solo
4. I'm looking for low-mid power.

I second what others said call the experts and see what they say. I dealt with Bob at Fuel moto and could not be happier with my 107" i had to dyno it to really wake it up, but with the cams and level b heads its awesome

rash3: Same here on my FM 107" build. Bob at RC Cycles did my tune, and nailed it. You?

That.

We're talking 4 cubic inches on a 900 lb bike. With the head work and cams you will get results.

Btw, had a 107. Have a 103 now.

I've been down this road.

assuming similar compression, heads, cams, exhaust, etc.... the difference between a 103 and a 107 will be around 3-4 hp and 3-4 ft lbs tq. By the time you do exhaust, heads, cams, set the compression, get the thing tuned, you've extracted most of your performance. The four additional cubic inches will not make a big difference at that point.

The only reason I'd take a 103 to 107 is if I was going to change the pistons anyway. If you're planning on 107 with flat tops, and a compression of under 10.5, just keep your 103.

If it were my motor, and I was bound and determined to redo the whole top end (without boring cases), I'd do the SE 110 bolt on kit, instead of any of the 107 kits.
