Maybe too late, but I personally wouldn't install the variety of spacer that goes between the frame and floorboard mount - it pushes the hard parts outboard creating a solid pivot point when grounded. I installed the Kuryaken spacers that go between footboard mounts and footboards. That way the hard parts are unchanged. I do touch down more easily, but at least it's the hinged footboard. It's kind of like having curb feelers.
I have the floorboard extenders from VTwinGoodies (formally HarleyGoodies) on all my bikes. Moves your foot out almost 1" and makes a nice difference. Easy install. Ron 😎
