Road Kings with tour packs?
#41
I have the Chopped and wish I had the King.
I only use it for trips so the extra space would be nice.
I have the quick detach solo rack, have had it for 5 years and never had a problem with it being loose or rattling, in fact it is so tight I need to tap it with a mallet to get it on and off.
This is a really old picture but the tour pack is still the same
I like being able to take it on and off as needed.

I look at pics of HD's and see them in person all the time...I'm constantly thinking "man, that is a look I just would not have done, but I can also see how someone thinks it's cool." Actually sometimes I'm thinking: "WTF were they thinking with all that bullsh*t". Still, it's not my bike, and I really do like the varied tastes, even though they don't all match my tastes.
Point being, it's your bike, make it yours. That's the really cool thing about these money pits...you can make it yours. As long as a Razor fits your needs functionally, then go for it.
FWIW, functionally speaking, I think you'll find somewhere in the back of your mind later that you wished you'd gotten a full TP, UNLESS you're going for a certain look, and there's a couple of pics in this thread with RKs looking nice with the Razor. I traded up to the Limited a couple of weeks ago because from shortly after I first got my RK in 2013, I was wanting the TP and all the room. I strongly considered a SG or RG and adding a Razor I could take off when I wanted so I could have the sportier look most times...but I decided to go with the Limited in the end especially in light of the comparison costs of building the bike like I wanted. In the end the Limited wasn't much more money. I don't think I'll miss my RK.

There isn't 1 picture of a bike with a Razor Tour Pak in this thread. There are some with chopped. There is a HUGE difference between chopped and Razor. Matter of fact when they redesigned the Tour Pak in 2014 they didn't make a Razor version, just chopped and King.

Here's mine, King Tour Pack, I initially had it on all of the time, now I only put it on for trips longer than a few days. It looks great, but I think it looks better without the tour pack. Of course I since put a Woody's fairing on the bike, and I'm sure I'll take that on and off whenever I see fit. I will say one thing, I never take the lowers off of the bike, keeps the wind off of my legs and I just can't live without em. That's the great thing about the Road King, it can be many bikes in one.
