Hello, I went to police week twice this week. I purchased a t-shirt and a new badge holder. I really enjoy this event. It makes me feel real good to be a police detective. I rode my bike to work in D.C. since Sundays Law Ride. The traffic is crazy. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but most of the crazy drivers in D.C. have Virginia tags. I am awaiting the chance to try out for the motor unit. I think it is one of the mosthonorable duties on the police department. Ihave been a detective for seven years. But I am ready to give it up to go to motors.

Hey Hardcore,
I was probably within feet of you as you escorted those buses to the memorial. I was one of the officers escorting the survivors to their seats when they got off those buses. I rode up to DC on my bike (bicycle) in the Police Unity Tour. I rode from Portsmouth to DC (227 miles) on my bicycle. Being there at the memorial was a very humbling experience.

I have never Been to DC for LEO week, but hope to before I die.
I retired 11 years ago due to line of duty injuries. I am able to run my litttle busines (www.madisonpolicesupply.com) and do ride my bike year round.
I live in South WI in the summer and South Texas in the winter.

Kudo's to all LEO's. May you all be safe.......................

Storm 4 u,

Every year I do the law ride the amount of time it takes for the lot to clear out seems to get longer. Where in the lot were you? I came in toward the end and left toward the end. It seemed like it took at least 10-15 minutes for the lot to clear. What a sound to hear the constant rumble from when the pack of motor units pull out until the end. Quite the sight!

Got back from D.C. late last night. Had a great time. This was my second trip (last was 1995). Spent way too much money, my legs hurt from all the walking, ate too much, drank too much, too many t-shirts. A week of over-indulgence! Highly recommended! And I couldn't believe all the bikes, they were everywhere!!

Ha Ha, no that wasn't me, I made the news in '95 but not this time!! I stayed at the Embassy Suites and the cleaning lady told me that the 14th floor (not mine) was a disaster area, she was pretty upset. I heard one of the other hotel managerscleared out an entire floor when things got a little wild. I'm all for lettin the old hair down once in a while, especially at a function like this, but a LITTLE self-restraint is sometimes a good thing!!
