Default Art of the Deal

I've requested quotes for a 2016 RGU from 7 local dealers for your amusement i'm going to share there offers as i receive them. This was my first correspondence. I'm not going to name dealership just offer.

Thank you for your interest in the 2016 Superior Blue Road Glide Ultra and giving *unnamed* Harley Davidson the opportunity to assist you in making your dream a reality! We currently have the best selection of new and used Harley Davidson Motorcycles in North West Ohio! The great news is we have the bike you are looking for in stock and ready to go! The list price on it is $26,494 and we would be able to extend a special internet offer if you are interested in doing something within the next seven days! I would also like to mention that if you purchase a New Motorcycle in March we are giving a free 3 year full Maintenace with the purchase. I would like to personally invite you into the dealership to go over the motorcycle and the benefits of doing business with us here at *unnamed* Harley Davidson! When would be the best time for you to stop in and discuss the advantages of what we have to offer at *unnamed* Harley Davidson?
I generally do all the routine maintenance myself. In 3 years i will need tires, oil changes probably the 1, 5, 10, 20k service , brakes , brake fluid flush all for free lol? This dealer last year offered me 2k in store credit without bending on the OTD price. More to follow.

I would think they won't be moving much off of that price because of the 3 yrs of maintenance included. But it wouldn't hurt to go and haggle. 1 of the dealers around me had msrp plus freight and prep as there asking price.

Ironically they don't define whats included in 3 year maintenance plan. I don't allow the dealership to do jobs that i'm capable of and thats inspection, oil changes and the 1-5-10-20 k schedule they rake less talented owners with who have no desire to work on their own bike. $435 dollars for freight is highway robbery. I work in logistics and know what it cost to ship things from point a to point b. I could ship that bike from Milwaukee to Ohio for a little over 100 bucks in a day or two with regional carriers.

Here is how much work is required to prep a new HD No assembly required.

It makes me wonder how stupid the MOCO thinks we are. I used to get paid an hour labor as an ASE auto mechanic for pre delivery inspection of new cars for a job that took about as long as this hd prep. I made $14.00 for 15 minutes work in the mid to late 90s

I used to do this for a dealership. I thought it interesting that they come with really nice Harley branded tie down straps but they never go to the customer with the bike. Dealership just tossed them in a bucket. I figured customers might like to have those.

All that dealer did is invite you into th dealer to try and size you up and try to screw you out of as much money as they can.

When you buy something that is in demand, your going to pay a premium price. And if you finance it through HD, your going to pay a higher interest rate. Do the math and see how much more interest you pay on $25,000.00 dollars over 72 or 84 months if it's just one percent more.

What I'd like to see is not what they offer you in an email, but your contract you sign to see how they made their money.

Geez, awful video...3 minutes of walking around the box before the guy removes some screws. Then it's just tearing off plastic and pushing it into line with the jiffy stand down! I watched some of it at 2x speed and it was still a waste mostly. No offense to the original poster, BTW, just a comment on the hype inherent in whoever created the vid.
