Default 25k Budget

I have financial approval from the bank *cough* wife to spend up to 25k cash on a new touring bike. I've decided at this point/age in my life i want comfort, wind protection at the front line for preferences. Is a Road Glide Ultra doable at 25k or below OTD? I want the tour pack and lazy boy seat for when the wife rides with me 2-3 times a year. Electra Glide Ultra Classic could be a second option but i really like the new Road Glides. I personally am not thrilled at paying the drive out the door depreciation cost myself but she says go new for the warranty pretty much. Not looking for a Road King or Streetglide even though they are both beautiful machines. Like i said i will be walking in with a check and leaving with no debt. I'm interested in knowing if any touring bike riders have made the great deal on a new bike. What did you pay for your new 2016 RGU or EG? TIA

You should ask a couple dealers this question.

I would think now would be your best chances at that. You might be able to get one from last years inventory. Good luck and I would go for the RG, loving the look of the new shark nose.

25K OTD - for a 2016 on a RG Ultra - my thinking that would be a screaming deal??? like stated, maybe a 2015 but at this stage, finding one of those will be hard..

2016 RG Ultra = Black = $25,689 + freight, set - up and what ever else the dealer adds
Plus Sales Tax and DMV = in most states that alone will add 10% to the cost of the bike.. so just $25,689 + $2568 = $28,257

If you have Cash - call all the dealers close enough to you that you are willing to go to and ask... If you are wanting a basic black bike and the dealer is hungry.. who knows

25 is a shot in the dark but it's worth a shot. You have better chances shooting for last year's model or even a 2nd hand model with low mileage right from hd.

My buddy just grabbed a 2014 rg with under 2k on it for 20 or 22 out the door. It had heavy breather elite , screaming eagle slipons and a tune. Overall he got a kick azz deal if u ask me.

Just do your homework good deals come up when least expecting.

Don't tell the dealer up front you are paying cash. If they ask you tell them "I don't know yet". Dealers make money off of the financing, so get the best price you can and them tell them I will write a check"

Ditto on "lat year's" model.... Or a couple of year's old. You can save a boatload of cash and money left over for goodies. Maybe not your style, but bought a used SG with tons of extras... Then "fixed" her my way, and only have $25K into her.
When you say $25K, do you really think you are done?

ABSOLUTELY .......DOnt EVEN MENTION CASH. When they start with payment bull. Just tell them u need to know the out the door price . But listen too the BS first . Too bad the wife needs new.....used is the only way to fly with cash . Saw one last week....1,208 miles. 20k.......made me sick knowing how much he lost.

End of December when hd dealers were being pushed to sell new over used i would say you stood a better chance. I went in shopping used and couldn't get them to budge near as much on a used bike.

I have found when buying find out all the fees before making a serrious offer. Break them down in a spread sheet and start picking each line item apart until you get to the price you feel comfortable. Freight prep doc fees etc are all low hanging fruit. Make them justify those costs on a new bike rather than going in with an out the door price as your only ammo.

I am with the rest though. If you have cash i would give the used market a serious look first. The only reason i went new was the trade i had wasn't going to sell veey well in my area due to the lack of dealer support (ducati).
