The automotive industry has a way to chrome fiberglass parts, so I think if you spray the part with copper based paint, then you can run it through the chrome process. Check out some youtube videos on the auto parts process

like I said...I didn't screw in the top screw all the way because I didn't want to stress the part because it was slightly off. So yeah...the screw looks fishy. lol It should.

it is cool that you can do this from a printer, but the round shape doesn't work in this application.

I build the file in Rhino and then import it into the MF software (proprietary format .mfp) For some reason it didn't print my holes, so I had to drill them myself. Going to have to troubleshoot that one.

I think the design is a better attempt then their two offerings...

at $70 and $50 no less. ugh.

I like the design, and the fact that you made and printed it. I think it would look better if it was mounted down lower so the top would be below the top of the backrest, and centered over the pad bracket.

Can you print one off in different colors, or will it only print in white?

At first I thought wow that's a hell of a printer making a whole bike then I saw the part you were showing. Looks good.

Pretty cool that you made it yourself - might look better painted - then show us the final product...

Cool prototype. First 3D print I've seen that I liked. Paint it and install it.
