Default 13" shocks and 1" lowered front

I have a 2011 roadglide custom, been using progressive 12" 444 and -1 monotubes and the ride is awful. Thinking about doing some 13" shocks and using a different brand of front lowering gas shocks. Has anybody done a combination here like this. Keep in mind my height is 5'8" so not sure I wanna go with standard height front. What I'm trying to accomplish is a smoother ride without all the stiffness, but like to be flat footed, and knowing prolly 80% of comfort comes from the rear

I was told that it's ok to lower the rear with the front left higher or lower both the same amount but do not lower the front without lowering the rear as well. Having the front lowered and the rear at standard height will adversely effect handling and it's not recommended.

Some don't care for the Progressives for the rear. I originally went with the HD profile lows front and rear to lower both, as I'm just a smidge shorter than you. With a lowered OEM seat, I'm flat-footed. I went with 12" Ohlins in the rear and is very smooth, and monotubes in front. You can feel more of the road up front but I actually like it.

Dropping the front 1" will slightly reduce turn in effort at low speeds and slightly reduce high speed stability.

Your seat is closer to the rear wheel than the front. You'll get slightly more seat lowering effect by dropping the rear than the front. Dropping both with give you the most.

However, you also say you do not want all the stiffness. You need the increased stiffness in the suspension to deal with the loss of suspension travel by lowering the bike. Otherwise, you will have a lot more bottoming out of the suspension.

Depending on what shocks you are looking to go to....

Lowering blocks on the rear may help you.

If your not trying to make your bike look low they make a frame kit. You can raise your bike back up and drop the seat pan and fender area for short inseam people.

Going with legend revo a rear shocks or ohlins 2a, or 3-3. and from what it sounds like the legends might be a bit smoother, where the ohlins maybe more performance shocks. just not sure yet. lowering blocks- have never used them, but that thought is there

I went with Legend Revo shocks and the Legend Axeo front end suspension and love it. American made, Lifetime warranty.

Here are some industry reviews

The best price I have found online is from Aces Speed Shop. Regular REVO shocks list for $699.95, they sell for $629.96. The REVO-A List for $899.95, they sell for $809.96. You might be able to use there pricing to get a deal at your local dealer? here is the link
