makeover for my 98 road king
since I bought my sportster 48 I haven't been using my road king. most of my earlier riding buddies from my youth have passed, married or dropped their bikes so I dont have many people left to ride long distance with, in the meantime I bought a sporty 48 to keep the bike thing going, I hated not riding & the 48 is much easier to pull out of the garage every morning to hop on and rip around within 100 miles or so a day. I was going to sell the road king this year but realized it wasn't even worth it due to the depreciation of the bike, so I figured I might as well keep it in the garage in case I find new friends that do road trips or in case I feel like taking off for a weekend. one of my buddies suggested I put a few dollars into it and wake it up a little, give it a makeover if you will, so I did... I took the bike to my friends shop...got a new c&c ostrich solo seat, threw on some thunderheaders, with an s&s carb, blacked out the whole front end and all the fender trim in a gloss black, blacked out the motor with a wrinkle black, and put on a set of RSD 12" pro step handlebars, arlen ness grips, Harley round mirrors, blacked out the inside of my front rotors, powder coated the stock mags black, new brake pads, put 2 new Michelin tires on,had it detailed and now it's finally done! got the call this morning to come check it out. the bike looks brand new, & it was definitely alot cheaper than selling it for nothing and buying another big bike for $20,000+ in the next year or 2 when I remember I cant go too far on the 48 without pain.
