Default Saddle Bag Crash Guard question.

I'm looking into getting rear saddle bag Chrome crash guards. I know they sell the lower supports with the bars for about $195.00 I want to use the factory lower bag support that's on the bike already, but it has to be cut in order to fit into the Chrome guard itself. Can't seem to get the measurement size anywhere. Anyone know off hand what length the lower bag support would need to be cut too? No sense spending the extra cash when I can use the factory supports and just buy the guards themselves.

I'd suggest you watch the classifieds for a complete set-up.

they do show up as owners remove for a "sleeker" look.

If time is on your side and you are patient, you can save a bundle and get everything all at once.

You could take the saddle bag off a ultra and measure the support bar.

If you mess up and cut to short I'm pretty sure I still have the original bars that came off my 14SGS. I didn't trust myself to measure perfect when I put the guards on my last bike.

You paid how much for the bike and for a safety point of view you want to cheap it out now for a 200 part which can be found cheaper if you look around. I got mine in chrome for about 120 IIRC. They save the bags from hitting the ground why try to save a few bucks on something that could save you a paint job cost if the welds fail??

Edit, hell even for the aggravation factor of trying to make one fit isn't worth the 200 bucks....
