Default Exhaust smell

I know I've posted this before when I first installed my head pipes, AC, and PowerVision. I'm still having issues and I want to know; does (or did) anyone else have problems with heavy exhaust/fuel smell after decatting to aftermarket headers?

I've reinstalled the headers, changed port gaskets, autotuned with the PowerVision and double checked the O2 sensors. Everything is installed correctly with no leaks. The bike runs strong, with very little to no decel pop.

Is this just an is what it is sorta thing? My WideGlide didn't have this smell and my neighbors Ultra with stage 1 doesn't do this. I smell like an oldd *** car when I'm done riding and my garage stinks! Sorry I'm frustrated.

Thanks for any help.

I recently have run into this as well. It happened after swapping mufflers ironically.

Then the other day I opened the vents on my hard lowers and did not smell anymore.

After that I swapped my Batwing for the windshield and did not smell anything with the vents closed.

It must be a airflow thing.

Naturally getting rid of the cat your gonna smell the exhaust especially coming from having the catalytic converter. I can smell mine on my RK with the right conditions with the back draft from the shield especially when slowing down.

I've thought about the airflow thing. But that doesn't explain why my buddies Ultra doesn't smell.

I'm wondering if I should put the stock air filter/cleaner back on.

If you smell fuel your wasting it. Might have to dyno tune.

FWIW, I started smelling exhaust after recently installing the V&H Pro Pipe. Never smelled anything with the stock head pipes. Still running stock AC.

Assuming it's removing the CAT. I'm mechanical, yet not a mechanic. If someone who knows their stuff told me this was just the way it is without the CAT...as long as the bike runs good, I guess I'd be ok with it. I don't want to do a continuous chase as to what this is. But if it can be fixed...great!!

It may also be from it running richer that your smelling. I don't really remember smelling anything on mine, but now after installing the FM micro tuner and then changing out the mufflers I do which probably created the richer condition. Like Ultra said, we're probaly running alittle to riche and wasting some fuel. Maybe why your not smelling anything on your friends Ultra.

I wouldn't change out the a/c.

I just sent in a request for a new map for mine since I changed out the mufflers.
