RE: bug splattered, dusty, dirty and dull
I read the other day from another members post to use hydrogen peroxide on the bugs. I am in Florida andthe love bugs cover you bike in one ride. H202 really works. spray it on and waite then rub off. Reapply until they are gone. Works great and does not harm the paint or windshield.

Wash around once a month unless it is extremely dirty. I use detailing spray in between washes to get the bug guts off of the fairing and hose it down to get dust off. I like it to be clean but it doesn't have to look like I drove it right off of the showroom floor every time I ride.
Oh and by extremely dirty I mean this. This was after East Coast Sturgis last year.

I got smeared a couple days ago riding from the glades up thrugh the center of state (FL).
the love bugs are kinda interesting how they come in waves like heavy rain. I'd go 10 miles with just a few splats here and there, then for a mile or two they'd be blanket heavy like smoke clouds. Stopping for fuel I literally used a finger to 'scrape' the layer off around my goggles (used my left hand for face cover when the herds were heavy)
