Have them both and think its worth the money. Peace of mind has no value.

I have the security system but no siren. I am planning to get the siren upgrade soon. It should have been included in the first place.

The alarm/pager is useless unless smeone stands the bike up or otherwise disturbs the bike a whole lot. I say this, because I have removed my saddle bags, seat, windshield and even washed and waxed the bike with the alarm set and it has not even complained! Otherthan the pager function at a hotel or restaurant, it is a waste of money in my opinion!

casique, My factory security manual says there are 4 levels of sensitivity to short disturbances that you can set. It does not mention a default value, so I don't know what yours is set to. But I agree that I can sometimes come out of the house and start cleaning the bike or set stuff on it without setting off the alarm. Eventually I bump it hard enough or notice the flashing telltale light and turn it off.

I've got the SSII with pager, wouldn't have it any other way. The pager is only $69, cheap for HD stuff, plus NO LABOR CHARGES TO INSTALL!!!!!

don't know why the HD security system doesn't come with the siren standard. somehow, the blinking turn signals arelike a deaf mute trying to tell you that a house is on fire.

Nobody mentioned that the factory security system (optional except Ultra) also disables the fuel injection and starter systems. No one is going to drive it away. A locked fork makes it difficult to move. It would take a truck with an auto engine crane to just pick it up and go. Park it where it isn't accessible to a truck.
