Default LOSING AIR PRESSURE

Take a stab at this one OL' WISEMEN of the HD Forums. When I ride solo, I have approx 5 lbs of air in the rear shocks and they never lose any pressure. When the Mrs. goes I increase the pressure to 20 lbs.after we ride for a little ways and I check the pressure has dropped to about 15 lbs. WHY? Do I blame it one her and tell her that she can no longer ride!

Use a soap solution to check the fittings in the air system. It will hold the 5 lbs but the 20 with the additional rider weight will push it out.

Make sure the valve stem isn't loose; I had that problem on my SG.

How often do I need to rotate my air. Do I use the front or rear tire or both? (lol)

OK now, In all seriousness

Do you use a no loss air pressure gauge like the HD one, that could be your problem. That little hiss of air when you check the pressure is usually about 4-5 lbs.

Yep. I have the HD pump. I just thought it was strange that it would not lose air with my fat a$$, but does when the wife gets on (no fat a$$). I'll try the soap trick tonight. Are there fittings besides the shocks and the valve stem?

Well without knowing some particulars on which bike you have, I would take a stab at the fittings on the shocks, then there is a connection where they "T" together, then the air valve and core, check them all with some weight on the bike. You may also want to check the length of the tubing for a pin hole too. Put a bit of air in the system too but don't over inflate it or you cause other problems.
