Hayden M6 BT07 primary chain tensioner initial impression

I'm really surprised by the riders that have had issues with this unit. I understand they had spring problems... from what I've read elsewhere, Hayden changed their supplier for the springs due to the failures. They also will replace your springs if you're still using old ones.
The issues they had were more than a little blip in the production timeline...
I bought the Hayden when they first came out with one for my bike. I had read about the problems with the HD auto tensioner and wanted to stay ahead of the curve. I procrastinated on installing it for no other reason than laziness.... I was glad I did...
Their instructions were off about the gap for set up, and along with the older, taller springs, that led to several forum posts of people who had banjo-tight primary chains with the Hayden...... It took awhile for them to admit an issue, and then come up with the new springs.
I had the original springs and after reading about the problems and finally a fix, I contacted Hayden. They did send me the newer spring set....
However, during that time, I learned that the MoCo had updated the auto tensioner. In 2009 it was #39929-06A and in 2010 it was changed to the #39929-06B. I saw pics of both, side by side. The differences were obvious and seemed to address the over tightening.
Since my bike had the newer design, I left the OEM part alone and have had no trouble... thus now no need for the Hayden..
Hayden originally put a product to market that they apparently didn't do much testing with... just went on past success, designs.... in it's original version, it wasn't very good... and caused the problem people bought it to address...

Not sure why Maxheadflow has suggested issues with collapse of shoe edges. Haven't read anywhere of that happening. Someone else said the chain was slapping the inside of their primary cover. That tells me you need to shim it my friend. This is not an issue with the Hayden M-6. Do the measurements, stay on top of the issues. Your primary chain will continue to stretch over time. Once maximum shimming has occurred, you need to replace the chain, remove the shims and start all over.

Set to specs I have Hayden in 4 other harleys ( twin cam bikes) My first Hayden in a M8. Hayden said it looks good button it up and enjoy the ride. Then I sent them this pix and now they are sending me a new shoe. Im going with Baker!!! 4200 miles??? now I will say I have had zero issues with the pads they give you for twin cam bikes

Nothing wrong with the stock tensioner. I have an 07 EGC with 104000 miles on the stock tensioner and a 17 RK with 40000. No issues. Just replaced a primary chain, comp and tensioner on a 12 RG with 102000 miles on it.. Tensioner was worn but still functioning.
