Hayden M6 BT07 primary chain tensioner initial impression
#21
Had one in my 2013 FLTRU for 4k miles, the noise was unbearable, put the stock tensioner back in. I contacted Hayden about the "new" springs and a new shoe back in late 2014. Only heard from them once and that's their customer service. Like someone else said most expensive POS I've put on any of my HD's.

Mine is a 2012 Ultra. I have the M6BT07 tensioner installed. Sometime in late 2014 or early 2015 they changed the spring lengths and made them shorter. There were people having trouble with them putting to much tension on the chain. I read all the posts I could find on them before deciding to give one a try after they changed the springs. I wanted to install one in my bike because a year earlier I installed an M6BT01 in my wife's 2006 Ultra and we liked how it performed. I think most people have had good results in the 2001 to 2006 primaries with the BT01's. I started this thread to document my results with a BT07 now that the springs are improved just to show others how it works out for me. Next time I open the primary, I'll post about how it looks with another video. If I have trouble with it before I'm in there for another reason, I will post my results in that case as well.

UPDATE AT 4200+ miles
I opened up my primary this weekend to install a different cover. The Hayden chain tensioners has been problem free since install and if I wasn't changing the cover, I would have had no reason to open the primary.
With over 4200 miles on the bike since installing the Hayden tensioner I thought I'd make another video showing what I found while I was in there. The chain has worn into the tensioner shoe nicely. The grooves in the middle and sides appear to be the same depth as the chain links now, while the shoe surface that the chain rollers contact looks vertically untouched.
I've been happy with it so far and I have no reason to change to anything else. I don't think the chain is overly tight or loose and I don't have to worry about it becoming over tightened like the stock one can do on occasion.
Based on my experience, It looks like Hayden got it right when they changed the spring lengths in the M6-BT07. If anything changes or I have problems with it I'll post an update and another video. Here's a link to the video I made this weekend.
