Default Removing 96ci Cam Cover. Straight Forward?

I'm in the process of finishing up some powdercoating on my bike and I'm wondering if removing the cam cover is as simple as dropping the floorboard, taking off the exhaust, and removing the 10 Allen bolts?

The service manual stated I had to support the lifters and some other stuff. Is that necessary for just removing and reinstalling the cover?

Just taking off the cover is as simple as you described it. No need to mess with lifters since you're not pulling the cams.

Thanks

I'm assuming the same goes for the primary cover? Just drain the oil and remove the cover?

It's likely that you'll have to rap it with a rubber mallet or something to break it loose.

Be prepared for some oil to come out. Put a catch pan under the bike.

When I remove a cam cover I ride the bike up on a 2x6 plank and put the jiffy stand down. The bike leans over more than normal and I can remove the cam cover or the RS trans end cover without losing much of anything at all.
