Default S&S 124LC for Touring

I'm thinking about upgrading to the S&S 124lc with a 58mm throttle body. I'm wondering how well mannered this will be for touring and how the mileage will be when driven respectable.

Anyone running this motor that can give their thoughts?

Why would you get a 124 and then ride it "respectable"?

can't speak on the 124 but I bought a 120ST motor , took it to Wes at Cycle Rama , had him disassemble the motor and upgrade any parts he thought needed it , re-do the heads ,change the cams etc. and then install and tune the motor , it comes with a 58mm throttle body , it came out to 132hp 138 torque , it gets better mileage than the 103 motor did , runs smoother , has a ton of power and runs cooler too , I think you would see similar results

Can you list the upgrade parts and post your dyno sheet?

Wes changed the lifters , cams , valve guides , ported heads , welded up intake ports , did a multi angle valve job on intakes , full radius valve job on exit , and other things , I can't remember it all , correction 132 hp 136 torq

Wes put in his Cycle Rama CR-630i cams , I haven't figured out my exact mileage yet , I know it's getting better mileage though because I will fill my tank up and take a 2 1/2 hour ride to a friends, I've done this trip hundreds of times , normally with the 103 when I'd get there I'd just hit reserve , I've done the trip now 3 times on the 120 and when I get there I'm at 1/4 tank

The motor will run just fine when all the components compliment each other. Get yourself someone who is familiar with big bore motors and knows how to tune one. I average 40 on the highway.
