RE: Samson Rolled Thunder Oval Slip ons
Does anybody know what kind of slip-ons these are? I love the sound, but they drag coming out of parking lots...

Alazlo:
Same experience here -- Samson Rolled Thunder ovals on the bike since new, and the right pipe turned gold after the last seam joining it to the stock header. Originally I think it was due to being tuned to lean, and the heat affected the chrome. I've tried everything I know -- at least 6 different products "guaranteed" to remove the discoloration. All they do is make the gold more shiny!
Anyway, I get compliments all the time on the sound, and they aren't so popular that you see them on every bike -- like the V & H's or the SE II's. What I really like is the sound at highway speeds -- it has a certain "hummmmmm" at 80-85 that is unlike any other bike I've ridden. And yes, at lower speeds around town, they have a nice "bark" when you get on it.
I'm still running stock headers... No real desire to spend the extra $$$ at this time for the TD's. The only downside I see is having to clean the end of the right pipe 2x as often as the left...

RE: Samson Rolled Thunder Oval Slip ons
I paid the Samson price. But $300 dollars ain't gonna catch it ordering from the dealer either. They weren't trying to mess with me. A misunderstanding I guess on my end as to which pipes I was ordering. Sound wise, I have no complaints. My concern, though they look great, was the V&H ovals would be too quiet. Not so with the Samson's and I like the way they look on the bike ok.

Have the rolled ovals on an 04 Road King Custom. Installed when bike was new and had 95 ci kit installed also. Have over 19,000 miles on them and they sound great and they are not discolored.
I would get them for my new 07 SG but have not found ones for 07s.

I knew you could find them at a better price. Here is another link.
