Impression/Review after 1st trip on RG
Just had a long weekend trip from St Charles, IL(40 due west of Chicago) up to the Wisconsin Dells for a weekend ride/get-together with my WIVO Buddies(Wisc. IL. VTX Owners).
My first impressions on my RG are terrific ride!! Thanks all for the suggestion on the Sundowner with backrest, WOW what comfort!! Not even a slight discomfort and in fact that seat may have HEALED my sore back I had for the last 2 weeks!! On the ride on Saturday I filled up before we left the motel, we stopped for fuel at @ 85 miles for the VTXs, I did not need fuel. Then we stopped at @ 150 miles, I did not fuel then either and got back to the motel with 1/4 tank left!! The bike handled GREAT in the corners and never felt uneasy on the bike shifting myself from side to side. Now I did lag behind a little when they cracked the throttles at the stops, but I never really pushed the bike too hard either as I knew it couldn't really stay even anyway. But it still had nice power and I don't miss the extra 10 or 12 horses.
All in All I am pleasantly surprised with the comfort of the ride and the abilities the bike has shown so far. I am no longer that concerned with taking it out to Denver in June via the Black Hills and Yellowstone on that seat

RE: Impression/Review after 1st trip on RG
Glad to hear you are happy. That is what we spend all this money for. To enjoy it!
As far as your back is concerned. I have been on pain medication for my back for the last year. It has always bothered me some, but I started dealing at a casino 4 years ago, and it has gotten much worse. That is probally why you don't see a lot of really old dealers. I take meds every night before bed. Except when i take the bike to work. There is something about the vibiration of the bike, seating position or something that helps my back pain. not sure why. I still have the stock seat, and yes my butt does hurt after a 100 milesor so, but not my back. Well, a bit at first, but I changed bars (to 18"apes), and now feel like the bike is like a message. really helps me out. Just wanted to add that. maybe that should be a slogan for MoCo. "Back pain? Not after a ride on the King. Theraputic, and cool as hell!"-Think that would get a few more people on a touring bike? lol

The RG is a great bike. You will enjoy it. I am like you replaced a VTX with a Road Glide and have not looked back. I do not miss the extra horsepower. In fact, thats why I got rid of the VTX. I am of the type if the HP is there use it, all the time. I put myself in a position as an aggressive rider. Thats fine when on the open road, not in the cityfull of caggers who are not looking out for bikers 90% of the time.
I did the same trip last year to Yellowstone. Had a great time. Plan on packing for all four seasons of weather on this trip.
