Default Review Sta-Bo EDD-16/ All ***** Wheel Bearings

So I checked my swing arm and it had a lot of play....I could move it back and forth maybe a 1/4" and my rear wheel bearings were almost frozen.

So first to the EDD-16 bearings. These are true bearings. Two on each side with some spacers. Install was easy with my shop press. I went with new donuts and bushings also. So after installing the swing arm there is zero "felt" play and the arm moves very smoothly. Also put the Sta Bo bushings in but will have to ride to see how they work.

The All ***** bearings seem okay for being made in China. I pulled the dust covers and found they were not greased very well so I added some grease and installed. I used the Pit Posse wheel bearing remover/installer and found it to be adequate. My advice would be to check any bearing to make sure they have grease.

I am thinking the Sta Bo upgrade will make a huge difference in handling.

Frozen bearings don't necessarily create swing arm play. Mine were frozen too, and in perfect shape. The slop in mine was in between the bushings and the shaft.

I recently replaced all the wheel bearings on my 2012 non-abs Ultra with All ***** bearings. I found all 6 of them ( 2 up front and 4 in the rear) to be well greased from the factory. I've read several other posts from people finding under greased bearings right out of the package. I thought the OEM bearings I removed were under greased in comparison to the All ***** bearings. I don't like the fact that the All ***** are made in China. I'll see how they hold up next riding season.

How did you get 6 wheel bearings from 2 wheels? Or are you riding a trike?

2 in the front wheel, 2 in the rear wheel and 2 in the rear drive sprocket.
They are all the same bearing on a non-abs model.

10-4, mine too, .010" to be exact; shaft is .748" all bushings and trans bore are .758", plus .060" side play between the trans boss and inner SA bushings. I've often suspected loose tolerances in the SA system but I really had no Idea until I started measuring, 10 thou is way too much. I was just replacing spherical bearings, but now in the process of making a new shaft without the slop. A new shaft is the simplest approach because all of the other bores are the same. Actually access to metalized spray build up on the axle would be the easiest but I haven't found anyone local to do it. I did make the 2 inner bushings with a thicker shoulder to take up the side play, but it could be corrected easily with a shim between the spherical bearing and the bushing pressed into it. I'm just going to work my outward and try to tighten everything up.
