Default 13 and under tourpak lock matched to a 14+ key help

Hey guys, I posted this up in the Rushmore section too, still looking for some help.

I mounted up my old tourpak from my 06 and was hoping to get a lock for it to match my key. Went to the dealer, and they tried to order it, and the system knew that a key from a 2015 was not supposed to be ordered for a 13- lock. So it could not be ordered.

I am pretty certain I have seen others who have successfully ordered a new lock for the older tourpak keyed to match a 14+.

I didn't keep a key from my old ride, so I can't lock it now. Before I order a lock set with a different key I wanted to see if there are any suggestions on how the dealer can can push an order through with a matching key.

Thanks!

I'm interested in this question because I plan on ordering a 14+ tour Pack for my '12 SG and want to get a matching lock.

I took the lock from the tour pak and the key for my bike to a locksmith. Told him that I wanted that key to open the tourpak lock. Two hrs and 35 bux later I had what i needed. I then reinstalled the lock. I have one key that opens the bags and tour pak as well as locks my forks and ignition.

I would think all the dealer has to do is order a 14+ lock for your key doesn't seem that they woud need it to be specific to an earlier bike unless the lock configuration is different

Ok, so I tried putting in the part number for the lock and put in my new key code on the board tracker web site and placed an order, I'll have to wait and see if they call or email mail me and tell me it can't be ordered with my 2015 key code.

I'll keep you all posted.

They are different, even the key has a different part number. Maybe a locksmith can work the magic if the MoCo can't.

You can get a 14+ Tour Pak lock that will work with your key. I did it. It took longer to get the lock then the Tour Pak but I have it.

Got a 14+ chopped TP with the key-matched barrel lock. I guess the real question is will the new lock fit your older TP?

I've done this. The dealer needed my vin# to order the barrel lock with 2 keys. Easy. The funny part is that a single replacement key for my bike cost more than it did for the lock and 2 keys. Go figure.

Boardtracker got me hooked up with an old style lock keyed to match my 15. Got my order confirmation tonight. I should have figured my local was incorrect, i don't have much luck with them.

Looks like it may take a little time to get this in though.
