Dropped it. No biggie.

Speaking of humbling, after riding my last RK 106k miles over nine years and not letting it fall over for the last eight of those years, I buy a new SG last November. Soon afterward I was in my garage after a run to Walmart, the removable Tour Tak and bags full of stuff, and realizing I needed to back it up to mount the TP on the wall, I did so and let 'er down. But forgot one minor detail, to extend the kickstand. Well, a herculean effort to keep it upright failed and although it did come to rest slowly on the floorboard, there was no damage at all, a miracle in my tight garage that something didn't collide. The car is 1' away on the right, and the wall not more than 3'. Anyway, I barely got it up on my own, nearly busting a nut, and was glad nobody was watching. Of course, I admit my shame before hundreds of bikers on this forum. But, let he who hasn't let his bike fall over cast the first stone.

Well I have done both sides of mine in the first 1000 miles... But atleast it was in the yard... Humbling to say the least...

RE: Dropped it. No biggie.
You can add me to the list of dropped bikes, just did it this afternoon. I was just pulling away from the pump after filling up my Street Glide. Started around the corner of the cashiers building and here comes a car right at me. It was a blind turn so I made a point of going slow, unfortunately the car wasn't so I panicked a little I was only going <5mph so I grabbed the brakes, including the front brake. Since the front wheel was turned slightly down she went. Damn are these touring bikes a bitch to get back up. The teenagers in the car coming at me just back up and hauled *** out of there.
The good news is that I had just installed the rear crash bars on my Street Glide last night. The bad news is that I had them powder coated to match my Black Pearl paint, and it's not wasy stuff to come by. Fortunately there was only a litte scuff on the corner of the right guard and you can't see it unless you get down on your knees to look.
The irony here is that I had just read this thread prior to leaving work today. So if you're reading this be warned!!

Suggest you check to insure that the guards are not bend or tweaked out of place. i had a car back out of the slot next to me and hit my bike. Everything looked okay until a few weeks later when i noticed that the saddle bag had a wear spot on it from the guard. The guard had been bent enough to rub the bag. Check to see that you don't have a similar problem.
