My wife gave me a bell, and it has saved my azz many times, (or at least I like to think so) give here a hug and kiss every time I come home from a ride...
I'm not big on some of the stories that come with some items. That being said, HELL YEAH I have a bell. I figure we need all the help we can get on bikes these days.
I like to think it proved it's worth last week when the car turned left in front of us and I highsided the bike avoiding him....It coulda been so much worse....
It isn't only done in the harley scene. When I bought my bike, my in laws had a wing and bought a bell for me. They swear by it. I put it on, and believe in them. I like the notion of them being a warning/alarm as well. I knwo what mine sounds like. But above that, I know the sound of my bikes pipes. Had warranty work done at the dealer the other day. I was inside 'shopping' and heard my bike pulled around front when it was done. Went to the service counter and they said, 'howdid you know the bike was done?' With my pipes being as loud and unique as they seem to be, I can hear it a mile away. One of the service writers said he had the same pipes as me, but couldn't undestand why my pipes sounded so much better than his. I don't know why either, but I do love them.
