Does anyone know for sure if the ***** G cover will work without the spacer? I know I've gotta customize the gasket to work but unsure about the cover.
Get the spacer to cover yourself. Every style derby cover is a little different. It isn't that much $$ and you won't be agonized if you need it and don't have it when you install the vpc.

Aight thanks. I've still got the stock cover just in case. It's "supposed" to fit.

Found a spacer from Rivera Primo #1162-0203. Will this one be thick enough at 3/16"? Found it for $26 at Two Cycle Guys and $30 at Amazon.

Should do the trick. The HD spacer is the same thickness. Only about 1/8" shows after installation and on a chrome primary, you'll never see it. AIM has the spacers and gaskets also if you didn't notice.

Yessir I saw those on Aims website. Didn't see the point in paying $15 extra for the same thing. Not sure if the Rivera spacer comes with bolts or not but that's not a big deal. Would've change them to stainless anyway. I'll get this one on the way. Thanks again.

I didn't have to modify the gasket on my bike. Also get a 18mm or a 11/16" spark plug socket(11/16" is better but hard to find) to do the clutch adjustment as once the vpc is on you have to use a socket( with a combi wrench on the end) to tighten the jam nut while holding the set screw with an T-Handle hex down the hole of the spark plug socket, sounds complicated but if I can do it anyone can, LOL! . Jims makes a cool 1 piece tool to use instead of the spark plug socket/combi set up, but it's JIMS$$$$$$$. Some guys will take a reg 11/16" socket and weld a handle on it as well while leaving the drive square open.

I took the cheap route LOL. I took a deep well 11/16" socket and welded a nut on top. Used a large enough nut that would allow me to still get an extension through it as well. Works like a charm. Can't wait to get this damn heavy Spring off my bike. I oughta have my head examined for putting it on instead of the VPC to begin with.

I did the same thing when I did my 107" build late last summer. Believe it or not, the pull is such that the clutch cable gave out (nearly) on a ride last week. It broke right behind the clutch lever; all but two strands of wire. Managed to limp home from 2.5 hours out. Don't know how my forearm has held out this long!

It's funny you mention that. I had an oil leak last summer coming from my trans cover. It was leaking through the clutch cable swivel where it screws into the cover. Turns out the cable was fraying on the inside of the trans cover and it tore out the seal in the end of the clutch cable. Changing the clutch cable isn't that hard but I don't wanna have to do it every other riding season either. Live and learn I suppose.
