I think the 110 or something bigger would be good to keep up with other companies. I guarantee there are people who consider Harley, Victory, and Indian and go with one of the last two strictly for the size of the motor on paper.

At what HP/displacement will the drive belts become the weakest link and force Harley to back to chains? They can't make the belts much wider and not run into trouble with the swing arm width with the wider rear tires. It could be chains or another frame re-work.

The belt's not an issue until you get to well over 140/140.

You know, I don't care. You guys can chase the big bores for pissing rights but ill stay with my 65- 900 sporty and my 03 King and anyone thinking that burning a $300 rear tire just so you can say this "touring" bike has *****, go ahead. I don't get it. When did the Harley mystique disappear and turn into this? At one time a Harley, "any" Harley meant something. Now...............Hope I didn't offend anyone but we are loosing all the soul if this keeps up.

randy

PS, My little 65 sporty will walk most touring bikes in the eigth and quite a few in the quarter as well.
Its all about the money and making the rich man richer now.Nobody is going to trade in their two or three year old bike unless there is a significant enough difference that they can gloat over all their pals how much greater their new bike is,which pressures the rest of his group to get new bikes as well.Without that continual turnover the dealerships and moco would soon be out of business...

........ a Harley still does mean something.
..... the longer i ride the '05, the more i think 'i oughta keep this one forever'
........ that said, there's plenty of 'significant enough difference' to make a move to a newer ride
.................. the Mothership just has to paint a new RGU the right color

I think the new 110 wet heads are very good motors. If anyone with a HO 103 wet head wants to move up to a 110, they can easily. All said, not worth it to me.

I'm too old to have time to wait for anything to develop at HD. So I just dropped a 120R in my Street Bob and a 120ST in my Freewheeler.

When I twist the throttles it's back to the future for me!
