Default Passing light socket 6pt or 9pt's ????

Going to make a passing light socket... read a lot of posts, which works better 6pt , 9pt or 12pt socket ???? Thanks in advance

How ever many sides the bolt has. If it is a 6 sided bolt use a 6 point. If the bolt has 12 sides, use the 12 point.

I used a 6 point to make mine.The main reason was it was the only extra 9/16 socket I had at the time.It works fine for what it was made for.

I used a 12 point.
Stupid design, isn't it?
Many better designs, but the MoCo chose this one.

I used an old deep well 6 point. Seemed to have more meat than a 12 point. And since your destroying the sockets integrity, I wanted the thickest one I had.

Yes, I did splurge for this part years ago (I also made one long before I purchased one). It's one of the few Snap-on tools I have.

Either a 6 or a 12 point is fine. Not sure what a 9 point socket is??
