No one really answered your question, so I'll try. There is a hollow bolt through which the wire from the passing lamp passes down to the turnsignal. You cannot put a regular socket on the nut without pinching off the wire. So, all you need to do is notch a socket using a dremel tool, and then very carefully insert the socket, making sure the wire is in the notch. You can turn the nut probably about a third of a rotation without stretching the wire, then reset the socket.
I have no idea what the huge hole in GrandPoohPah's socket is for. All you need is the notch.
While we are on the subject of sockets, something I just learned a couple of months ago, is that a spark plug socket will fit on the clutch locking nut, through which you can insert the hex wrench to hold the clutch rod, and then use a wrench to turn the spark plug socket.
I, instead, spent the bucks to buy a complete set of off set wrenches, just to get the one I needed to set the clutch. Sure wish I would have asked here first.....

I am with you here..
I have some 9 points but I think they are for square head bolts like some transmission drains. Also have some female torx . Just used one to get a wet seat out of a Toyota Scion TC sport car.
Now that I see it, would a flair nut wrench work?

Nope ... The access if very limited. Actually the socket that they/we are referring to is used after the turn signal assy is removed ... then you can use it to tighten/loosen the nut on the stud that mounts the passing lamp to the bracket. In many instances you can just give the passing lamp a "love tap" and it will move enough to adjust the beam, not always though.

While you are buying the socket buy a few extra hands to help get all this tightened back up. I bought a Harbor Freight impact socket and whittled it out sort of like the one pictured here and thought I had it made. I cussed the MOCO more than once on this design when I was putting it back together. Like Larry said if you can bend it into place go that rout because you will end up doing it that way on the final adjustment anyway.Recommend to do one side first and see for yourself.
