ClearView Shields review
A new CV shield for my '16 Road King arrived here about a month ago. It is the 18" Recurve with light tinting and the extra wide (+3") option. For reference I am 5'9" but with 29" inseam, so I my torso is more like someone who is 5'10". Here are my observations:
1) I will echo all the other positive comments on this forum about the email communication from CV Shields, and the outstanding packing in the shipping box as both are A+.
2) My shield is perfect in all aspects. First thing I noticed when holding it was how stout and firm it is. Calipers verified this with the CV having a thickness of .185" vs stock of .125", so the CV is just about 50% thicker. I could easily flex the stock shield an inch back and forth, but almost zero flex with the CV shield.
3) Taking the King windshield brackets apart is cake. Remounting the CV shield is a borderline PITA, but that's not the CV shields fault at all, it's just the nature of the beast of the brackets. Just an FYI, this operation is much easier done with another pair of hands to help you, and unlike many other projects it is NOT more fun after a couple of brewskis. Ask me how I know.
4) My one and only ride so far (about 15 mi before snow hit here) told me that I made a great choice in what I ordered. The CV is awesome and totally shames the generic stock shield. At 60mph the airstream just barely breezed over the top of my modular FF helmet (I put my glove up to feel it). There was zero buffeting unlike the horrible buffeting from the stock shield. Side airflow goes just over the tips of the levers with just a slight amount of firm airflow on my pinkie finger. This is exactly what I wanted especially for rides when it is 60F or cooler, so the extra $40 for the wide option is way worth it. Remember, on hot days I can just leave the shield at home for full on air flow.
My advice to any King owner is to ditch that craptastic HD shield stat, and buy an aftermarket one. Yes, even before buying a 'bad ***' sounding exhaust, an overpriced fancy air cleaner, or a bunch of chrome farkles.
Photos as follows:

2) Clearview on top of stock. Notice the different outlines
3) CV on the bike (with wrapping and stickers still on for test ride only).

Good write-up. I have the stock height CV with recurve on the King and also one for my Sporty. Great people to work with and love the shields. FWIW, I left the bolts on the brackets loose when I got it on the shield, installed on bike and then tightened the bolds. Everything lines up nice when I reinstall the shield.

I just put a 20" on my 16 King and would agree they put out a great product..

I've had one on my '03 RK for about 6 years now. I don't remember how tall it is, but it was 3 inches shorter than my stock screen which would stick almost exactly in my line of sight and when mountain riding, would go in and out of my sight line. While it's 3" shorter, it protected my much, much better! Love the recurve on it.
