Default Road King Custom handlebars?

Hello all, I just bought my first Harley! An '05 Road King Custom. My buddy has a custom with the Harley beach bars that feel really nice and I'm just wondering if the chubby beachbarsare close to the Harley version? The chubbys would be a little cheaper as I don't have to buy the risers and cover. I thought they looked nice also.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

What do you have on there now? The RKCustom comes stock with the beach bars?

They are a beach bar, however, the after market beach bar a little wider and have a different wrist angle.

Check out the Burley knuckle bars in the JP catalog, I put them on my 05 Custom.
I'm 6,2in tall these bars work great for me, wider, wayless pullback, and a perfect wrist angle.
And all the cables fit fine.

Thanks Blue for the photos. I'm about 5'9" so those bars may work. Have you tried either the harley or chubbybeach bars?

Hey dave, Welcome! I, too, have a '05 rk custom. I love it. There are a lot of guys here that switch out bars, and most seem to be nearly identical to the ones they already had. To me (JMO), this makes no sense. Why spend more money and receive the same look? For me, I needed something that would be more comfortable (back pain), and I wanted my hand more at eye level. I went with 18" apes. They aren't for everyone, I know. But I love mine, and the difference is remarkable. Both with looks and feel. Just a thought. Break away from the pack, buy apes!

PapaTravis.

Could you post a big picture of your bike. One of my buddies has a RKcustom in thre same color as yours, and he is thinking of going to apes, and I'd like to show him what it would look like.

Or email it to tpstreisel at yahoo * com

Thanks!

Tim

I just got a 2007 Road King Classic, put the Heritage Softail Classic bars on it - fits me perfectly... I'm 5'9, gives me a good height that doesn't stress my shoulders and neck... also don;t have to replace any cables, although I put the braided cables on anyway.
