Default Battery - HD OEM or AGM, or other?

I guess I need a battery..

Haven't ridden the bike in two weeks and can't get it to start. Tried the battery tender, but it's not working. Prior to this, I have been riding the bike every day, to and from work, etc. Now it's not starting - damnit!

HD OEM is $184, aftermarket AGM from Oreilly Auto Parts is $134.

Are HD OEM batteries better?

I got the AGM #EXT30LA, had it I think two years. Wondering if the HD OEM is better?

EastPenn batteries make the DEKA sport battery, an AGM battery and as far as I know still the provider of the HD battery, which an AGM type battery. Find a dealer near you and they may be able to get you one. Most sport batteries give you a one year warranty. May try AutoZone or PartsPlus for a direct replacement.

I went with a Shorai lithium battery in my Road Glide after having had one in my Kawasaki for several years. Weighs 5 lbs! and starts my big twin like no other. Pricey at $250 on amazon but customer service is terrific and so far so good.

Do you have a regular battery charger available? Battery tenders might not bring back discharged batteries where a regular charger might. If it will take a charge, get it load tested, then you'll know if you really need a new one.

The applicable charger would be a smart tender, one that charges to 14.2v. then monitors the charge and automatically charges when the monitored charge drops. A good charger would be from Deltran.

Same situation as the OP. Woke up recently SUPER early (4AM) to get a head start on long day ride and the bike would not turnover...battery was shot. Figured due to age of battery, letting it sit for 3 weeks without a tender, and the 40'ish degree weather....made life hard on it.

Searched around and decided to go with a BatteryPlus battery. Yeah, it was expensive (got the Duracell AGM) but came with a 2-year warranty. So far, happy with it, plus they were open on a Sunday and I was back on road by lunch.
