To the OP,

If you like the looks of the CVO pipes, keep an eye out on Ebay for a set of take offs. They pop up fairly regularly with very few miles and a decent price.

Bolt em on and see how they sound. Pretty sure you will then be ordering the Fullsac baffles. If you go that route do the sleeves also. If your pipes are 2012 or later especially when you open them up you will see why. Do a search here, there is plenty of good info.

My 2006 Street Glide has been bumped up from 88" to 95" with SE-203 cams. I'm running 2015 CVO mufflers.

Here's my impression... slightly louder than stock. Much deeper than stock.

I used to run a more open style muffler, but my wife and I do thousands of miles per year on trips and I got tired of the noise. Just did 3,000 miles a couple of months ago with the CVO mufflers. Nice sound that reminds you you're on a Harley. But very pleasant at 80 MPH and/or when riding full days, day after day.

Edit to say a word about performance and looks: more torque down low; only performance loss is above 5,000 RPM. So they flow pretty good for an EPA muffler (at least on the smaller motors). As for looks... tough to beat.

Thanks for all the replies. Pretty sure this is the sound I'm after. I'm in the market for a set of cvo mufflers with chrome tips.

RPS1981 pretty much hit the nail on the head. I would describe it the same way. I like mine on my '09 ultra.

Picked up a new take off set of CVO mufflers with revolver tips for $100. Put them on my 88" ultra and they sound great. They are just a little louder than stock, but have a nice deep rumble that isn't annoying after a couple hours. Bike seems to still have great bottom end.
I've had stock slip ons with the baffle plate "punched out, another stock set with the packing gutted. Gutted stock slip ons don't sound too bad, but I felt like I lost a little bottom end.
Also had a set of Screamin Eagle street cannons. The street cannons sound great on a 103" motor, but sound like crap on an 88". On the 88", they had a "flutter" sound when you really got on them. The dealer really screwed me on that one.
All in all, very happy with the CVO slip ons on my 03 ultra. I would like just a touch more rumble out of them, but afraid to go modifying them and end up sounding like the street cannons. Any ideas? I know everyone recommends FullSac baffles, 1 3/4" being the quietest. If I could get half way between the CVO sound and the 1 3/4" FullSac, I'd be happy.
Thanks to all for their input.

Squirt water inside when you wash it let it soak up good then take it for a ride.

FWIW, I have stock '15 CVO mufflers on my '16 RGU. With a Fullsac headpipe the setup is slightly louder than stock and a fair bit deeper. I'm really pleased with the sound of them.

And FFS, a couple of HP on an 800 pound bike is insignificant.

If you want alittle deeper and better sound, wrap the core with stainless steel wool, then use the fiberglass on top of that.
