Why does the Harley"kit" harness not need relays and diodes etc?

Not sure why, I was hoping the harness in the previous post will work?

The "kit harness" for the 13 and back bike's has a diode, or some kind of device built in. The harness for the 14 up bikes does not. The 14 up bikes use the newer Can-bus electrical system. With the newer bikes, the dealer can connect it to a digital tech and program the ecm to allow power to the high and low beam at the same time. In another thread, a guy posted the part number for an older headlight kit that included a harness that is supposed to work for this application. If purchased separately, that harness is a lot cheaper than the dual halogen harness that comes with the kit for the 13 and back bikes.

It will work, but if your using it on a 13 or older bike, only high or low beam not both. I have basically the same harness, mine was custom made to run 2 - h9 lamps. I was running h9's in both the high and low beam, because the h9 has a higher lumen output than the h11. You will have to use a diode or relay in order to get both lamps to run together on high. As I posted earlier in this thread, the diode will rob you of some voltage.

ok - so I have a more basic question. Does anyone have the instructions on how to remove the OE headlight from the fairing in order to put this one on?

I've searched all morning and still cant find a thread.

How about your owners manual?! If you don't have one you may be able to download one from the H-D website - go to the Owners tab.

Yes I have the owner's manual, the repair manual and the parts manual.
Nowhere can I find how to disassemble/remove the headlight assembly from the fairing.
Thanks
