I hate to disagree but this is a very simple job. I just got done installing a full BT kit, including Kenwood head unit, 7.1 inch fairing speakers and new back speakers.
Biketronics makes the install very simple, the conversion cable is already setup for your specific bike. It is pretty much a plug-n-play system to install.
I just wouldn't want your post scaring people off from tackling this project themselves if they think they would like to try it. $400 US ($550 AUD) is a lot to pay for a 2 hour job.

I think he mentioned in Aussie land garages aren't as common as they are here.
I do agree with everyone else. With a little space, time, and a handful of tools the BT set-up is a straight fwd install.

No garage
That's right - I live in an apartment with a communal, poorly lit, parking area (no garage), so I had no place to do the install. That is why I got the dealer to do it - no stress involved for me...
