Just keep the PC5 and have the bike dyno'ed

If one was going to use a Power Vision with Target Tune on this build (I'm considering a FM 107 build), would you still need a Dyno Tune? If yes, why?

You really want to start with a Dyno tune. The target tune will adjust for variations based on your loaded map but it is only as good as that map. If you are going to spend the money building up the motor you should cap it off with a map that matches your engine not just something that has the same parts in another part of the Country.

We have not developed PC-V maps for the Fuel Moto 107 kit on 14-up Touring models, while the PC-V is a great unit, Power Vision is simply a much better tool in a big bore application. With full access to all of the ECM's tables Power Vision gives you far more adjustability beyond PC-V, it also allows for closed loop operation using either the factory O2 sensors or with widebands if you use the optional Target Tune kit, and PV also gives you the ability to datalog engine data. Dynojet does not offer base maps for big bore applications on 14-up Touring either for the same reasons. We have an extensive library of Power Vision calibrations for our 107 kits in 14-up Touring (as well as earlier models) and we are happy to assist customers with unlimited support.

Target Tune also works extremely well in these applications, it offers full time closed loop operation with a broad range of fuel correction. Tuning these combinations day in, day out on a dyno and incorporating Target Tune into our tuning procedures I can comfortably say if you start with a good base map with accurate timing tables etc.. a well tuned Target Tune equipped bike will produce nearly identical results to a dyno tuned bike. We spent a year testing before the product was released and really welcome TT into our everyday tuning procedures. For example, if we build a new combination that we do not have a base map for (such as a custom 126 Outlaw engine) we use Target Tune to get thru the break cycles and it works excellent for maintaining the AFR in real time, we lower the closed loop temp thresholds and can control the mixture to the AFR we want right off initial start up before we roll it on the dyno.

Hope this info helps, if we can be of any assistance all channels are open and we are here to help.

P.S. we also still have our Tune in to Fuel Moto promotion which allows users to trade in their used tuning products towards Power Vision. You can check it out here http://www.fuelmotousa.com/p-28219-t...fuel-moto.html

That should be enough to push you over the edge.

If you read Jaime's post fully there is 1 line that says it all, "if you start with a good base map and accurate timing tables etc, a well tuned Target Tune equipped bike will produce nearly identical results to a dyno tuned bike." How would a novice know if the base map or timing tables are accurate for HIS bike? Every bike is different and is ridden different, by different people, in different conditions, etc. I get that the supplied base map should be fairly close for combinations he has mapped previously in similar conditions and in that case it will be nearly what a dyno tuned bike will be. . There is no substitute for a great dyno tune, period.

Just a quick update:
I received my 107 kit yesterday afternoon and had the bike running late last night. The build was pretty strait forward and easy, I just followed the videos. I wouldn't have been able to to the whole thing in one day if I hadn't have torn the bike down a few days earlier. The only tricky part for me was the adjustable push rods.

The results are pretty impressive! I definitely need a different exhaust to take advantage of the cams, but I'm pretty happy for now. I'm also thinking I'm gonna need a heavier clutch spring to hold the additional torque.

That's great! Still have the stock exhaust on I assume? I'm planning this kit maybe next year sometime. I want to spend more time with the 103 so I appreciate the upgrade more. Good to hear the install wasn't too bad.
