Now you guys that avoid 4000 rpm, what is that all about? stock these are around 5800 max, stage 1 @ 6200. are you telling me that you shift below 3000 and ride like the proverbial old lady driver. It may not be a crotch rocket but the power band is 3500-4500 for acceleration purposes.
good grief if you don't hit the rev limiter once per month you void the warranty!
I usually shift at around 3200,and have no problems with acceleration!

Dam. Im a wuss. i hardly ever go over 3k. these bikes are pigs compared to a 11k reving single cylinder 450 mx bike. I feel like my bike is gonna blow up over 3k. guess ill run with scissors and rev her up. i always figured the rev limiter was set around 3500 on the harleys. guess i was wrong.

If you don't have a VCI for this bike you can't see what's going on so the best thing is to take it to a dealer.

Okay everyone. The verdict is finally in. Fuel filter was bad. Understand I am not a mechanic and took this bike to local harley dealer and others and not one person said filter. My riding buddy suggested I put the issue on here and said I would find some great answers and suggestion. It just goes to prove what kind of community HD Forums really is and I cannot thank you all enough.

4000RPM - have you never heard of ACCELERATION?? Or do you shift at 2800? Must be a very boring ride.

When you came back with the post about it happening slowly over time, I felt damn sure it was the filter. Glad you finally got it under control. I would also be looking for a different shop to have my work done, if I was you. It should have been the first thing that they check, by your explanation of the problem. You won't get stung again on that one. Good luck bud!

He did take it to a dealer. And they took his money without fixing the problem that,to many of us on here, was pretty self explanatory.
