Yes, moving the sensor out of the fairing works. Quite accurate.

 

Mine works great, when it is in the garage and the motor is at ambient temp. other than that it is totally useless

How did you move the sensor, where was it at and where did you move it to?

I just moved my sensor today. It is a white square plastic piece in the fairingnear the radio. I spliced in some extra wire and put it out of the fairing near the triple tree clamp. Temp readings were accurate on this 85 + degree day. Normally in my black fairing the temp would read near 100.

I just bought my Ultra last week and the first thing I
noticed was the temp gauge maxed out. I asked about
it and was told they all do that. I got pissed and told them
they'll fix it. Had an appt for thurs. night. I guess after
reading all the post, I'll blow that off. Oil temp gauge makes
more sense anyway.
