Default Cruise Won't Shut Off ?

I have a 2014 Street Glide Special. The cruise control will not disengage when pulling on the front brake. When I changed out the grips is when the problem started. I have taken the right side control apart two times and I still have the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if the 14s brake switch is as delicate as the 13 and down. Make sure your brake lights work with the lever. If not, I'd inspect the switch, replace if necessary.

Until you find the fix, you can cancel cruise by rolling the throttle forward.

so- since about 1983...anytime the controls are removed on a Harley, a shim must be used against the brake light switch to prevent damage.

this is detailed in the service manual.

a switch will cost about $63...about the same as the service manual.

some of the Guys have managed to repair this with a small screw or jb weld, there are threads on this fix you can look up.

you can check this by looking & seeing if your brake light comes on with front brake application

Does the brake light work when you use the front brake lever? If you have brake light issues the cruise usually won't even engage.

just to add to:

if you break the 'tit' off of the switch, the problem will be the brake light is always on.

j&p has a replacement switch, with shipping comes out to about $25

I've broken the tit once. drilled a small hole in the lever and used a screw. the extra thickness of the head of the screw will then depress the switch and cancel the brakelights.

Just checked the brake light. Pulled the front brake and no brake light. The cruise is activated as usual. It will disengage when hitting the rear brake or pulling in the clutch.

I pulled the two halves of the handlebar controls and I found the brake light switch. I operated it with my finger and it worked fine. I can't seem to get it into the cavity so that the clutch will operate it properly. Pain in the *** for sure. I will try again tomorrow to get the switch into the switch cavity. I don't think that the switch is broken.
