Default Yes: another thread on cams...

I'm having a dilemma on choosing the right cam.
I have a 2012 SG. My mods are: CFR mufflers, Vance and Hines Headers, SE Air cleaner and Power Vision tuner.

I have no plans on doing any head work. I'm just looking to add more pep and torque when needed. My comfort zone is the 3000 - 5000 RPM zone. I do like riding a bit aggressive but when I'm cruising, I notice that I'm about 65 MPH at about 3000 RPM.

I called Fuel Moto and told this to Bob. His suggestions are the following:
Woods 222;
Woods 555;
Woods 777 (based on I enjoy higher end RPM's); and
999A6.

My Indy guy recommends the Andrews 57 Cam.

These are all good cams but I have no idea how to choose which is the best cam and I don't want to go through cam after cam in deciding.

For those who have chosen one of the listed cams, why did you choose so and what's your final opinion of your choice?

Please no arguments or lectures. Thanks!

I have the Andrews 57H in my '15 Limited Low & couldn't be happier. They pull right in the rpm range you're looking for. I got them on amazon for something like $205 from a reputable dealer and free shipping.

That said, the wetheads have a bit more compression stock than the airheads, and I have heard the 57's like compression.

I'm surprised they recommended the 555's & 777's. I thought you'd need a bump in compression for those to perform to their fullest.

Anyway I'm running 222's in my 96". Also have the FM pushrods and lifters.

Who's doing the install?

What's up good Brother.
I'm using a place called, Busted Knuckle Motorcycle shop (https://www.facebook.com/BustedNuckl...RepairLLCSouth)

Dudes been around for over 30 years. Top reputation.

He loves Andrews 57 and hates Woods. I have the Power Vision tuner which is pushed by Fuel Moto. I don't think they provide maps for Andrews cams.

But again, I'm looking for reasons WHY folks chose their cams. I don't want to just choose a cam w/o having evidence to support it.

Thanks gang!

Try a Cyclerama 575, all those other cams mentioned are operating with barely enough compression for peak efficiency/power. If your running 3000revs at 65 mph and stock gearing,look at some clutch mods....

I choose the 222's based on the fact it's bolt in cam designed for lower compression engines. Also based on the low end torque I wanted down low when riding two up. Also liked FM reputation on the forum and tech support.

Maybe the only thing you'll read about the woods cams are they are a little loud? And the push rods a little more difficult to set up than others.

Also the install is really easy. I borrowed a bearing puller from a forum member and watched all the FM & S&S video's for the install. I have the old cams sitting on my desk, ha!

Can't go wrong with FM, my 222's came from them and I'm happy. I ride my 13 Limited, 2-up most of the time. I now have power to pass, btw I tip the scales at 325 and the wife is about a buck fifty. Seems to really come on around 3300 rpm. Not the hottest cams I've ever had, but real nice for long range touring. My last bike 06 EGC with SE204's was all about torque off the line, but not what I needed for 2k mile trips.

Are you saying I won't get top tech support from amazon???

I have the Powervision also. When I installed the 57's I contacted Dynojet via email & had a custom map the next day.
