Brand new bike and I just found the rattle. The fuel door button rattles like crazy. It's not loose, it just has a lot of play.

I'd ask for a new bike.

 

I would check the nut that holds the button on. My dad has a 2014 and the nut that holds the button to the fuel door was loose.

 

like I said, the assembly is not loose. The button itself has a lot of play in it. At idle you can clearly hear it rattle around. It actually sounded like static on the radio. My exhaust is rather loud too, DD and CFR's.

 

Lots of complaints here about that. Its the reason I didn't install the pushbutton one I got for Christmas 2 years ago

 

Tried a furniture stick on felt pad? They come in all sizes...

 

Common problem, I have it too. I took it apart & really saw no way to make it tighter.

Someone a while back posted something about putting an o-ring around/under the button but I never tried it.

 

It's the first complaint I made to the dealer about my Limited. They said there is no fix. It rattles at idle and going down the highway the rattle turns into a buzz. It's annoying so I just turn up the volume on the radio.

 

Can the lock be installed similar to my 2013 limited? Really not sure why Harley changed the design in the first place.

 

Try bending spring plate to add tension. This way when closed, that tension takes up the slack in lock and quiets down. Add some grease paste too inside lock
