Default lower 6x9 or 6.5?

I had the sony hu, two pbr300x2, and four mm651 (fairing and lowers) in my last bike. It was good, and i still have the equipment, but I want louder without going to saddlebag lids.

I'm thinking of doing 6x9 (pioneer ) in the lowers instead of the 6.5, but is there much difference?

I'd be open to other louder suggestions too. Id like to keep the fm reception. biketronics...

The MM651's are pretty good speakers that you can throw a lot of watts at, but the PBR's are relatively weak compared to some other amps available these days. The problem is that most of them are class D amps and they will likely kill your FM. Biketronics makes a good 4 channel amp that retains FM (the 4180) but it's over $500. You'll get more bass with 6x9's in place of 6.5's in most cases, but in an enclosure as small as lowers I don't think they will sound as good as they would in the lids. Which lowers are you considering? I see you're new here, maybe you're unaware that there's an audio forum. You should post your question there where some more knowledgeable eyes will see it, it's under the tech and mechanical tab.

I've had great luck with this lady and the 6x9s are situated vertically instead of horizontally. Kerry can have her painter knock out the painting as well and it's reasonably priced. But I agree with John. you need more power than the PBR amps. If you can afford to upgrade the speakers in the fairing, I would to the Biketronics 7.1". FM reception is the killer for most class D amps. The Power Acoustik RZ4 and Soundstream PN4 amps are good amps but they will likely kill FM altogether.
