Inner fairing bracket, how big of a job
Had my fairing cap off this week to fix the odometer reset button. Noticed the Fairing brackets are cracking at the top bolt.
Looks like it could be a bear of a job with all the stuff in there. Anyone replaced these? Is the replacement part any better than the OEM or should I be considering welding these up myself when I get them out?
How much of the internals have to be taken out to get these out of the fairing?
I have seen a few places that sell kits to "fix" the problem but I am curious to how well that works. I mean I am quite handy and could make something like that myself but it seems that it may just crack somewhere else. However if the HD replacement is still the same exact part replacing them is a waste of money.

Like Primetime says it's not a hard job. Take pictures and label with tape and you'll be fine.

This is what I did but used some scrap aluminum laying under the bench and a handful of pop rivets, took all of five minutes...
