Thumbs up

Installed Rockouts in my 07 Ultra today. Very easy to follow instructions. Fired bike up and no noise. Definitely would recommend. Best $15 I have spent on the bike. Thanks for your efforts.

A quick note...

To those who purchased their kit on Amazon, if you are happy with the results I would really appreciate it if you would take a few moments & give the Rockouts a positive rating there. I wish I could direct the viewers there to these forums but it's not allowed under Amazon policy.

Thanks again to everyone for the awesome support you've given me here,

John @ Rockout

Glad I saw this thread - I was going to do mine later today (already have the kit).

In going over this thread (as opposed to the other long one) I see it is also recommended to get new rocker cover gaskets and breathers? First time I have seen this.

Also - which section of the manual do I need to reference?

My bike is an Ultra Classic so yours might be different. But before you start, make sure you can access the rocker cover bolts. The front cylinder is easy...the rear can be a bit more difficult. I used a ratcheting wrench on the stock bolts.

Most of the info for this task can be found in the Top End section of a manual.

I let the bike sit for a few days (poor riding weather) to let the lifters bleed down. Then:
(1) remove seat
(2) remove console
(3) remove tank
(4) remove spark plugs
(5) remove rocker covers - gaskets may stick so have new ones in case
(6) set cam to bottom of cycle per instructions
(7) remove breather assembly - I replaced with new ones while in there
(8) loosen arm support plate bolts per sequence
(9) remove arm support plates - bolts can stay in place per John's instructions

From here, follow John's online instructions - DO clean out the oil in the bolt holes as damage can occur.

After the Rockouts are installed in that cylinder's rocker, essentially reverse the process. Just make sure the push rods are in the rocker arms as they should be.

The other cylinder is the same...just remember to set the cam to the bottom.

Hope that helps!

Thanks brother, I couldn't have said it better myself!

To TwoBlue...

If you have the older cast type breathers (and I think you do) folks like to replace them with the newer stamped style while they're in there. The kit is only about $15 & includes the NECESSARY shorter screws if you are making the switch.

Please let us know how the Rockouts work out for you.

John @ Rockout.

Just finished up and no more noise! (Thanks Rock out! )Since I already had the bike apart I also did the Baisley spring in the oil pump. I had SE 255 cams installed and one thing for certain the mechanic just rushed doing the job, used some new, and some old gaskets and bolt torque was all over the place. Happy now though! going to shower and go for a ride.
Be safe

Only other thing I will add when you have the pushrods out squirt a little contact cleaner in the hole in the center and hit it with a little compressed air just to make sure no little bits of debris are blocking the oil flow.
